You stated that you are currently employed as an <br /> Environmental Scientist II for DEQ. Your current position involves ambient air assessment <br /> in the Southwest regional parts of Louisiana.You have been offered a position as a Graduate <br /> Assistant working for Dr.Bruce Wymann.You provided that you would be compensated by <br /> a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.As part of your duties you would be <br /> required to wear an air quality monitoring system while traveling for DEQ. The purpose of <br /> the grant is to study the air quality after extensive industrial expansion <br /> The Board concluded, and instructed me to inform you, that the situation presented <br /> herein does not present an issue under the jurisdiction of the Ethics Board. Therefore, you <br /> would not be prohibited by the Code of Governmental Ethics from serving as a Graduate <br /> Assistant for McNeese State University and wearing an air monitor during your work hours <br /> while employed with DEQ. <br /> This advisory opinion is based solely on the facts as set forth herein. Changes to the <br /> facts as presented may result in a different application of the provisions of the Code of <br /> Ethics. The Board issues no opinion as to past conduct or as to laws other than the Code of <br /> Governmental Ethics.
