You provided that your work focuses on academic matters related
to students with disabilities. You have been asked to join the founding board of a proposed non-
profit that will eventually apply for a Type 1 charter school with the Orleans Parish School Board.
The Board concluded, and instructed me to inform you, that the situation presented
herein does not present an issue under the jurisdiction of the Ethics Board. The Code of
Governmental Ethics would not prohibit you from serving on the Board of Tmstees of an
Orleans Parish Charter School.
This advisory opinion is based solely on the facts as set forth herein. Changes to the
facts as presented may result in a different application of the provisions of the Code of
Ethics.
