Mark Martin has served as a board member of the Marrero-Ragusa Volunteer <br /> Fire Board since 1988. He is interested in the part-time paid administrative position that has become <br /> available_ In order to fill this position, he would resign Porn the Marrero-Ragusa Volunteer Fire <br /> Board. <br /> The Board concluded, and instructed me to inform you, that the Louisiana Code of Governmental <br /> Ethics would prohibit Marx Martin from being employed by the Marrero-Ragusa Volunteer Fire <br /> Board for two years after he resigns from the Marrero-Ragusa Volunteer Fire Board. La. R.S. <br /> 42:1121A(2) provides that no tom=member of a board or commission shall,for a period of two <br /> years following the termination of his public service on such board or commission. contract with, <br /> be employed in any capacity by,or be appointed to any position by that board or commission. The <br /> Marrero-Ragusa Volunteer Fire Board is considered a board or commission within the Board's <br /> jurisdiction and subject tothepost-employmentprovisions set outin La.R.S.42:1121A(2).As such, <br /> Mr. Martin would be prohibited from being employed by the Marrero-Ragusa Volunteer Fire Board <br /> in any capacity for two years after his term of service of board has ceased, <br /> This advisory opinion is based solely on the facts as set forth herein.
