The Department administers and enforces standards for <br /> the construction and use of buildings and property;promotes and protects the public's interest <br /> and safety to life and property; and enforces the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinances (CZO) <br /> to protect the quality ofNew Orleans'neighborhoods.You stated that your job duties include <br /> reviewing architectural plans for commercial and residential projects for compliance with all <br /> city, state, and international building codes. You also provided the following background <br /> information for consideration in connection with your request: <br /> You have applied for a position with NANO, a design-build firm headquartered in New <br /> Orleans,to gain the hours and experience required for a professional license in Architecture. <br /> Additionally, your supervisor, Zachary Smith, has approved your request to seek outside <br /> employment with NANO, while maintaining your employment with the Department. <br /> Further, you stated that NANO does not have any projects presently pending under review <br /> with your department. <br /> The Board concluded, and instructed me to inform you, that the Code of Governmental <br /> Ethics will not prohibit you,as a Building Plan Examiner with the New Orleans Department <br /> of Safety and Permits,from being employed by NANO since NANO does not presently have <br /> any projects being reviewed by the New Orleans Department of Safety and Permits,nor does <br /> it have any other contractual, business or financial relationships with the Department.
