Hodgeson Road <br /> Gonzales, LA 70737 <br /> RE: Ethics Board Docket No. 2017-680 <br /> Dear Mr. Robinson: <br /> The Louisiana Board of Ethics, at its August 18, 2017 meeting, considered your request for an <br /> advisory opinion concerning post-employment restrictions relative to whether you can work on <br /> transportation projects within the area of Louisiana Department of Transportation District 61 where <br /> you were the former Assistant District Administrator,Engineering. You stated that you retired from <br /> the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development(DOTD)in February of 2016 and that <br /> your last position with DOTD was as Assistant District Administrator,Engineering for District 61 <br /> which is comprised of the following parishes: East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Ascension, <br /> Assumption,Iberville,Pointe Coupee,East Feliciana,and West Feliciana. You further stated that in <br /> your position, you supervised the preparation of construction plans on state highways in District 61 <br /> which generally consisted of overlays, adding turn lanes, patching roadways, and striping. You <br /> further informed me that while employed with DOTD you did not perform any work relative to <br /> projects involving"Local Roads Safety Program"or"Safe Routes to School Program." <br /> You stated that you began employment with Gresham, Smith&Partners in July 2017 on a part-time <br /> basis,working on projects associated with"Local Roads Safety Program"and"Safe Routes to School <br /> Program"in Ouachita Parish and Concordia Parish. The scope of these projects entail constructing <br /> new sidewalks,striping local roadways and realignment of intersections. You further stated that you <br /> might be required to work on similar projects in other parishes, including those parishes in District <br /> 61. <br /> The Board concluded and instructed me to inform you that the Code of Governmental Ethics does not <br /> prohibit you from working on transportation projects within the area of DOTD District 61 involving <br /> "Local Roads Safety Program"and"Safe Routes to School Program."
