You stated that you were responsible for training assessments, developing, designing and
delivering training for DCFS employees. You stated that you managed a staff who supervised
contracts with the Social Work Departments of Southern University, Grambling State University,
Northwestern State University, University of Louisiana at Monroe, Southeastern Louisiana
University, and Louisiana State University. You would like to apply for a position at one of the
universities listed above and would like to know if there are any post-employment restrictions
prohibiting you from employment at one of the universities after July 27, 2018.
The Board concluded and instructed me to inform you, that the Louisiana Code of Governmental
Ethics(Code) would not prohibit you from seeking employment with the universities listed above
following your retirement from DCFS. The post-employment prohibition in La. R.S. 42:1121
contains restrictions during the two year period after the termination of your public employment.
Because any time period established by 42:1121 will have elapsed on July 27,2018,you would not
be prohibited by the Code of Ethics to pursue employment with any employer.
This advisory opinion is based solely on the facts as set forth herein. Changes to the facts presented
may result in a different application of the provisions of the Code of Ethics. The Board issues no
opinion as to past conduct or laws other than Code of Governmental Ethics. If you have any
questions, please contact me at (225) 219-5600 or(800) 842-6630.
Sincerely,
...,..",(4j
LOUISIANA BOARD 0 ETHICS
cle
gory L.
