Long Avenue <br /> Gretna, Louisiana 70053 <br /> Re: Louisiana Board of Ethics <br /> Docket No. 2019-1114 <br /> Dear Mr. Archote, <br /> The Louisiana Board of Ethics, at its meeting on December 20, 2019, considered your <br /> request for an advisory opinion as to whether the Code of Governmental Ethics ("Code") <br /> would prohibit your wife from applying for and obtaining a Type 2 video gaming <br /> establishment license. <br /> FACTS PROVIDED <br /> You are employed as the Commander of Louisiana State Police ("LSP") Troop B in <br /> Jefferson Parish. Your job duties include highway safety enforcement and responding to <br /> critical incidents such as hurricanes, floods,active shooter investigations, and local agency <br /> emergency requests. <br /> Your wife, Betty Archote, owns Huey P.,s Pizzeria in Violet, La. Your wife is considering <br /> applying for a Type 2 video gaming establishment license for the restaurant. The <br /> applications are submitted to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, pursuant to the <br /> Louisiana Gaming Control Law, La. R.S. 27:1, et seq.,, with regulation under the authority <br /> of the Gaming Enforcement Division within LSP, Department of Public Safety and <br /> Corrections. <br /> Your job duties do not involve gaming enforcement.
