R.S.�42:1 11SA(1)provides that no public servant shall solicit or accept, directly or <br /> indirectly, any thiiig of economic valiie as a gift or gratuity from any person or fram any officer, <br /> direct�or, agent, or employee of sueli person, if such public ser�ant knows or reasonably should <br /> know tliat such person: <br /> (1) Has or is seeking to obtain contractual or other business or fina�lciat relatioiiships with <br /> the public servaa�t's agency. <br /> 10. <br /> La. R.S. 42:1102 provides the following definitions: <br /> (2)(a) "Agency" ilieans a department, of�ee, division, as;ency, comiuissioil, board, <br /> committee, or otl2er organizational unit of a goveruinental entity. <br /> (vi} For public servants of political subdivisians, it shall ibean the agency in �ul�ich the <br /> public servant serves, except that for members of any �overning authority and for the <br /> elected or appointed cliief executive of a governuiental entity, it shall mean the <br /> governmental entity. Public servants of political subdivisions shall include,but shall not <br /> be limited to, elected of�cials and public employees of municipalities, parishes, and <br /> atller political subdivisions; sheriffs and their empldyees; district attorneys and tl�eir <br /> emplayees; coroners and their employees; and clerks of court and their employees. <br /> (9)"Elected�of�cial" means any person holdin�a�i office in a governmental entit�y�vhich <br /> is filled by the vote of the appropriate electorate. It shall also include any person <br /> appointed to fill a vacancy in such offices. <br />
