Box 4368 <br /> Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70821 <br /> Re: Docket No. 2025-134 <br /> Advisory Opinion <br /> Dear Mr. Fusilier: <br /> The Louisiana Board of Ethics,at its May 2,2025 meeting,considered your request for an advisory <br /> opinion regarding whether the post-employment provisions in the Code of Governmental Ethics <br /> (Code) prohibit you, a Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) <br /> employee from resigning and working in the private sector. <br /> FACTS <br /> You currently serve as a project manager in the Road Design Section of DOTD. You stated that <br /> you have been employed with DOTD since 2018. You do not supervise any employees. You <br /> would like to entertain offers of employment in the private sector to serve as a project manager, <br /> program manager, or road and drainage design. You would not seek employment on any project <br /> you have participated in during your public employment. Additionally, you would not accept <br /> employment with any company that is transacting on any project that you participated in while <br /> you were employed with DOTD. <br /> Your current duties as a project manager for DOTD are: documentation,managing and supervising <br /> DOTD and consultant staff preforming engineering and related services on individual DOTD <br /> proj ects. <br /> LAW <br /> La. R.S. 42:1121B(1) No former public employee shall, for a period of two years following the <br /> termination of his public employment, assist another person,for compensation, in a transaction,or <br /> in an appearance in connection with a transaction in which such former public employee <br /> participated at any time during his public employment and involving the governmental entity by <br /> which he was formerly employed, or for a period of two years following termination of his public <br /> employment, render, any service which such former public employee had rendered to the agency <br /> AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER <br />
